Feniton Church of England VA Primary School
BELIEVING & ACHIEVING TOGETHER TO BE THE BEST WE CAN BE
Feniton Church of England (VA) Primary School is a thriving community of children, parents, teachers and members of the local community, seeking to serve the villages and parishes of Buckerell, Gittisham, Talaton, Feniton and the parish of Escot. We aim to provide education of the highest quality within the context of Christian belief and practice. We have 210 pupils on roll, Reception Class – Year 6. The school provides a Foundation Stage Unit, ‘Little Explorers’, which offers high quality pre-school provision and a smooth transition into Reception Class.
The school is located in East Devon, in a rural location, conveniently situated between Honiton and Exeter, and with easy access to the A30 and M5, plus has a railway station.
The school was built in 1967 to meet the needs of a growing population in the catchment area, which could not be accommodated in the previous Victorian building. Situated in Station Road, the school lies conveniently adjacent to the local sports field.
In addition to the eight classrooms there is a large multi-purpose hall which enables the whole school to meet together for the daily act of worship. The hall is also used for PE, dance, drama, and extra curricular activities. To support children’s learning, we also have a Computer Suite, a Practical Area used for Art, Design, Technology, and Cookery, and a library.
Team games and athletics are accommodated on either the sports field or the playground. and swimming takes place at the pool in Honiton. Inter-School Sports’ competition and outdoor and adventurous activities feature strongly in the life of the school.
Excellent support from the parents and PTA has enabled the school to sustain an ongoing investment in equipment to enable the pupils to keep up to date with advancing technology and this year they have invested in IPads to support learning.
We are federated with Tipton St John School in the Otter Valley Federation. Information and policies relating to our federation can be found through the link on the left of this page. We also work collaboratively with many local schools and we are a member of the SMILE Co-operative Trust.
